How do I prepare myself for a sleep study?
On the day of your overnight sleep test, you should reduce your intake of food and beverages with caffeine. Avoid naps during the day to ensure you are more likely to sleep better during your sleep test. You are welcome to bring your pillow even though we will provide one for you. For children, a favorite blanket or stuffed animal is welcome to tag along for the sleep test. You should bring any medication you require before bedtime, including toiletries such as a toothbrush, etc. The best sleep attire is comfortable shorts and a T-shirt. You will have access to a restroom during the procedure, and a technician can quickly disconnect you from the testing system to leave the bed for restroom breaks. You can expect to leave the sleep lab between 5 am and 5:15 am. If you did not drive yourself to the sleep center, you should arrange a ride home in the morning for pick up between 5 and 5:15 am. Lastly, you will need to have a photo I.D. and Insurance Card with you for admittance to your sleep study appointment.
What do I bring with me?
You should bring any medication you take before bedtime, and favorite pillow (we also provide pillows), your night wear, a book if you want to read before bedtime, and change of clothes for the next day, and any paperwork we sent you to be completed.
